   2. After you have read the articles, pick a product that is comprised of elements or minerals that have to be mined in order to produce the product.
   3. Describe the supply/manufacturing chain that must take place in order to create the product that you chose.
   4. Describe the environmental and societal causes of concern that are associated with the supply chain of your selected product.

2. Read "The interdisciplinary nature of SOIL" journal article and record your thoughts to the following questions in your lab notebook. This assignment will be graded.
3. Discuss your thoughts on the article in lab groups.
